Background
Oen is a B2B fintech platform whose events product lets organizers sell tickets from their own event page, for anything from music festivals to summits and courses. Gates have to move fast, every ticket can be used only once, and the staff checking them often have no Oen account. Tickets were sold online, but there was no way to check them at the door.
My role
I designed the check-in feature end to end: the scanning flow staff use at the gate, manual check-in by ticket number, and the admin side where organizers invite gate staff and set their permissions.
Two parts of the scanning flow carry most of the weight. A confirm step shows the attendee's ticket before it is checked in, so staff can catch a wrong ticket before letting someone through, at the cost of one tap per person. Ticket-type selection limits a scanner to one type, so a team can split the work at the gate.
